Low-noise properties of squeezed light in transmission chains formed from nonlinear alternating attenuators and amplifiers.

چکیده
An idealized model of an optical communication link in which identical sections of nonlinear attenuating 6ber alternate with identical amplifiers is considered. Signal-to-noise ratios of chains of these elements for input squeezed and coherent light have been numerically evaluated. It is found that input squeezed light and nonlinear attenuators improve the signal-to-noise ratios with respect to coherent inputs and linear chains. In the case of three-photon attenuators, the noise and signalto-noise ratio remain practically constant from certain elements of the chain. Moreover, the inhuence of the attenuation coelicient and the input mean photon number on the signal-to-noise ratios was considered, as well as chains with nonlinear ampli6ers and chains in which the amplifier gain does not exactly compensate for the Sber attenuation.

Quantum noise properties of non-ideal optical amplifiers and attenuators
We generalize the standard quantum model (Caves 1982 Phys. Rev. D 26 1817) of the noise properties of ideal linear amplifiers to include the possibility of non-ideal behavior. We find that under many conditions the non-ideal behavior can be described simply by assuming that the internal noise source that describes the quantum noise of the amplifier is not in its ground state. We validate this m...
متن کاملQuantum Squeezed Light Propagation in an Optical Parity-Time (PT)-Symmetric Structure
We investigate the medium effect of a parity-time (PT)-symmetric bilayer on the quantum optical properties of an incident squeezed light at zero temperature (T=0 K). To do so, we use the canonical quantization approach and describe the amplification and dissipation properties of the constituent layers of the bilayer structure by Lorentz model to analyze the quadrature squeezing of the outgoing ...
متن کاملRaman and loss induced quantum noise in depleted fiber optical parametric amplifiers.
We present a semi-classical approach for predicting the quantum noise properties of fiber optical parametric amplifiers. The unavoidable contributors of noise, vacuum fluctuations, loss-induced noise, and spontaneous Raman scattering, are included in the analysis of both phase-insensitive and phase-sensitive amplifiers. We show that the model agrees with earlier fully quantum approaches in the ...

متن کاملQuantum metrology with parametric amplifier-based photon correlation interferometers
Conventional interferometers usually utilize beam splitters for wave splitting and recombination. These interferometers are widely used for precision measurement. Their sensitivity for phase measurement is limited by the shot noise, which can be suppressed with squeezed states of light. Here we study a new type of interferometer in which the beam splitting and recombination elements are paramet...
